With over 4,000 attendees and renewed interest from the media and external exhibitors, it felt great to be a Liberal Democrat in Brighton last weekend.
We were particularly pleased to see our amendment to the Sunday Trading motion pass, setting out our support for the liberalisation of the law in this area, whilst providing important safeguards for workers’ rights.
We had an amazing fringe – with 160 people in attendance, including over 10% of the new Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party, it was comfortably one of the best attended fringes at the Conference. Our speakers, Sam Freedman, Tom Morrison MP, Paul Kohler MP and Councillor Hannah Kitching blew the room away with their insightful analysis of the issues facing the country and how the Liberal Democrats can address them.
We look forward to playing a key role in helping the party chart its course over the coming years as we move into a new era of opposition to a Labour government.
